Configuration
window
The “Configuration window”
is accessed by clicking the button marked 'CFG' on the main window of ESDi.
To exit either click the X
at the top right of the window or use the button marked exit.
It is recommended that you
only alter one value at a time. Apply button must be clicked for settings to
take effect. To return to the default values – click default then apply.
Setting 'AUDIO BUFFER SIZE'
and 'INITIAL BUFFERING' to a high value will mask most problems with wrong
drivers etc.
If you have a good quality sound
card (e.g. Marc 2 from www.marian.de) then
setting these values low will decrease latency between speaking and being
heard.
AUDIO BUFFER SIZE Size of the audio sample and playback
buffer. Range 320 bytes (0%) to 4800 bytes (100%).
INITIAL BUFFERING Amount of audio
collected before playback begins. Under good audio and network conditions a
lower value can be used. Range 0.03 seconds (0%) to 5.57 seconds (100%)
LOWER THRESHOLD Trigger value that
something is wrong – either audio or network. Too little audio data available.
Take corrective action.
UPPER THRESHOLD Trigger value that
something is wrong – either audio or network. Too much audio data available.
Take corrective action.
CORRECTION In the event of a
problem with data flow this is the initial attempt to correct the problem. e.g.
If too little data is arriving the '
DIANOSTIC FREQUENCY Time between checks
on buffer stocks. Range 1/10 of a second (0%) to 1 second (100%). Note: Too low
a value could mean not enough time elapsed for any corrective action to take
effect.
AUTO RUN -
if this box is checked ESDi will start each time windows starts.
START IN TRAY
- if this box is checked ESDi will start in the tray. Unchecked it will begin
as a window.
