ESDi

Configuration window

The 'Configuration window' is accessed by clicking the button marked 'CFG' on the main window of ESDi.

To exit either click the X at the top right of the window or use the button marked exit.

It is recommended that you only alter one value at a time. Apply button must be clicked for settings to take effect. To return to the default values - click default then apply.

Setting 'AUDIO BUFFER SIZE' and 'INITIAL BUFFERING' to a high value will mask most problems with wrong drivers etc.

If you have a good quality sound card (e.g. Marc 4 from www.marian.de) then setting these values low will decrease latency between speaking and being heard.

AUDIO BUFFER SIZE Size of the audio sample and playback buffer. Range 320 bytes (0%) to 4800 bytes (100%).

INITIAL BUFFERING Amount of audio collected before playback begins. Under good audio and network conditions a lower value can be used. Range 0.03 seconds (0%) to 5.57 seconds (100%)

LOWER THRESHOLD Trigger value that something is wrong - either audio or network. Too little audio data available. Take corrective action.

UPPER THRESHOLD Trigger value that something is wrong - either audio or network. Too much audio data available. Take corrective action.

CORRECTION In the event of a problem with data flow this is the initial attempt to correct the problem. e.g. if too little data is arriving the 'LOWER THESHOLD' trigger will cause this value to be applied. The data in the buffer will be padded.

DIAGNOSTIC FREQUENCY Time between checks on buffer stocks. Range 1/10 of a second (0%) to 1 second (100%). Note: Too low a value could mean not enough time elapsed for any corrective action to take effect.

AUTO RUN If this box is checked ESDi will start each time windows starts.

START IN TRAY If this box is checked ESDi will start in the tray. Unchecked it will begin as a window.
